A stunning new addition to the exclusive four-star Parkway Hotel in Cwmbran, a new 10-bedroom extension incorporating stylish executive bedrooms, is under construction.

Representing an investment of over £1 million, the new extension will include two penthouse suites, one suite designed for disabled people and seven garden and executive suites. Each penthouse suites will have a separate lounge, walk-in wardrobe and a large balcony.

The project is being carried out by main contractors Davlan Construction. Architects are Mogotton Architects.

The three storey extension is being constructed to the rear of the hotel on land formerly occupied by gardens. “All the bedrooms are spacious, interior designed and have top quality fixtures and fittings and top of the range bathrooms. The extension also has a lift to all floors,” said Kevin Cook of Davlan Construction.

External elevations are in brickwork to the first two floors, with render above. Windows are double glazed in hardwood frames and the building has a pitched tiled roof. All of the rooms have Juliet balconies with French doors and the penthouse suites have full balconies with French doors.

Further works include the upgrading of landscaping around the new extension to maximise pleasant views from the rooms, plus the refurbishment of an existing car park.

“Currently work is going well on site, the building is finished externally and internal works are well underway. Particularly good relations between the hotel and the contract team have promoted good progress on this project,” said Kevin Cook.

The project, which commenced in October 2014 is due to be finished in early June 2015.

Situated in over seven and a half acres of gardens, the privately owned Parkway Hotel is an ideal setting for both business and pleasure. The hotel was taken over by the de Savary Family in November 2012.

The hotel’s main building includes 70 en suite bedrooms, an exclusive private members leisure club and spa, a restaurant which is famous for its three course carvery, plus large function rooms for celebrations, weddings and dinner dances.

The extensive reception area and comfortable lounge provide warmth from a real log fire where over a ton of local coal and logs are burned each week in the cooler months. While in summer, a newly refurbished and extended patio garden area is an excellent choice for dinner dates and relaxing evenings with a bottle of wine.

A friendly and enthusiastic welcome is always waiting for guests at this hotel which is renowned in the locality for its high standards of food, service and accommodation.

Complimentary WIFI and parking is available to all guests and residents have their own Executive Resident’s Lounge.

The hotel is extremely proud to be runners up in the Wales in Bloom 2014 competition for its outstanding grounds.
