Kubota UK, the market-leading supplier of high performance compact construction machinery, has raised £26,000 auctioning off its special edition ‘Gold Digger’ at construction industry charity The Lighthouse Club’s 60th anniversary Summer Ball.
Following the significant milestone of Kubota selling its 50,000th excavator in the UK and Ireland this year, the manufacturer produced a special edition gold Kubota KX-71 mini excavator, which it donated to the charity to be auctioned at the event to raise much needed funds. The successful bid was made by Anglia Crane and Plant Hire.
The evening was a great success, with more than 600 guests enjoying a champagne reception, three-course meal and live entertainment. The auction proved to be the perfect way to end the event, hailed as ‘the construction industry’s most exclusive celebration’.
Bill Hill, CEO of The Lighthouse Club Charity, commented: “The 60th Anniversary Summer Ball was held in conjunction with the Construction
Plant-hire Association 75th anniversary and was a very enjoyable occasion. We were thrilled to have the chance to auction the special edition ‘Gold Digger’ at the ball and were confident it would attract attention as our number one auction lot, but the amount of money raised was simply extraordinary.
“For us to be able to continue providing support to construction workers and their families who may be suffering in difficult times, we rely heavily on the generosity of companies such as Kubota, so we are ever so grateful for the support they provide.”
Dave Roberts, Managing Director of Kubota UK, said: “We feel the work The Lighthouse Club conducts truly deserves recognition as they continue to ensure the construction industry is a safe working environment and provide support to people who really need it.
“The summer ball proved to be a fantastic event and we are so delighted that the money raised from the auction of the ‘Gold Digger’ is going to such a worthy cause.”
