La Collinette Hotel – Stylish hotel enhances its appeal

La Collinette

Further enhancing the stylish La Collinette Hotel in St Peter Port, Guernsey, a project involving the extensive upgrade of the restaurant, bar and swimming pool area has recently been completed to a high standard.

The project was carried out by main contractors Ravenscroft Construction.

Works within the 40-cover restaurant and bar included the installation of new underfloor heating and replacement of the existing floor with durable Antica Flooring, as well as the installation of new lighting and complete re-decoration.

Jonathan Maides, contracts manager of Ravenscroft Construction said: “The project was challenging in that the area had to largely remain in operation whilst the works were being carried out. It was essential to keep the hotel services running, avoiding disruption for guests – and this required carefully planned logistics, including starting work very early in the mornings and erecting decorative screens around the areas we were working on. The bar was closed for a total of only three days throughout the contract.”

The toilets were also completely refurbished, with the original interiors being completely stripped out and fully tiled, together with the installation of new sanitary ware, fittings, lighting and floor finishes.

Improvements were also carried out in the hotel’s swimming pool area, which includes a large pool and a children’s pool. The children’s pool structure had cracked, so the works involved its repair and re-tiling, as well as the laying of new granite paving around the pool patio.

“The hotel owners were very happy with the finish of the works and were also pleased that they had been able to continue their operations whilst the project was carried out,” said Jonathan Maides.

Originally a Georgian manor, the hotel has been run by the Chambers family for more than 50 years. The white-painted building boasts bright, modern rooms, most of which overlook the grounds, with distant views to the west and north. In the grounds, self-catering cottages and apartments have a terrace or balcony overlooking the gardens.

Established for eight years and rapidly expanding, Ravenscroft Construction is active in all sectors, including residential and hospitality. Recently completed high profile schemes include the comprehensive refurbishment of three office floors and a retail unit as 50 High Street St Peter Port and the impressive renovation of a former NatWest Bank building in St Martin, to create new offices.
