ROK Construction Ltd

ROK

Based in Jersey, ROK Construction Ltd are an exciting, dynamic company with the expertise, drive and passion to build anything from £20,000 projects to £20m schemes. The establishment has delivered quality on a range of built environments including supermarkets, schools, hospitals, homes and much more.

Working on d’Auvergne School, ROK Construction completed the alterations and extension to the existing school situated in La Pouquelaye, St Helier. The project began 16th February 2015 and concluded in June this year. Structural works were carried out with the structural steel frame with blockwork and cladding panelling to the roof, with a full fit-out including M&E works.

When asked what he thinks the developments on the school will do for the community, Greg Morrison, Director at ROK Construction, replied:

“This will allow d’Auvergne School to expand its intake of children, which is something that can only benefit the community.”

Secondly, ROK Construction undertook a renovation on Locale Colomberie, carrying out a fit-out of the existing building (the basement and ground floor shell), at 22 La Colomberie, St Helier. ROK began the construction works in November 2015 and completed the project in March of this year.

Regarding the feedback, Greg commented:

“The feedback has been tremendous with the quote of ‘fabulous store in a fabulous location’ being repeated.”

Another project that the construction company has delivered is K.P. Service, encompassing the fit-out and adaptation to an existing warehouse building with the M&E requirements, and office/welfare facilities required to house the new generation of printing equipment.

Located at Rue des Pres Industrial Estate, the main aim of the refurbishment was to provide the client with a fully functioning printworks to a detailed specification, given budget and programme. The developments commenced onsite in November 2015 and were completed in April 2016, which interestingly, was three weeks ahead of schedule.

Greg said:

“We introduced new services, drainage, constructed a new sub-station, and installed a mezzanine floor with mechanical air handling units.

“Our biggest challenge on this project was the installation of the largest private sub-station in Jersey and dealing with an international mechanical sub-contractor who didn’t supply design drawings or speak English.”

ROK Construction were responsible for the new theatre extension at the Jersey General Hospital, including internal remodelling to the existing site which consisted of a piled foundation solution, structural steel frame and SIPS structural panels for the external envelope on the theatre level with blockwork enclosing the plantrooms on the lower and upper ground floors. This created two additional theatres which connected back into the existing building, providing six theatres in total.

ROK’s involvement incorporated the day to day running of the project, client liaising, sub-contractor coordination, project management and continuous programming of any changes or issues that arose the ensure that the project was delivered on time. The developments began in April 2015 and were completed by February this year.

According to Greg:

“This means that the Jersey General Hospital can now provide additional care to its patients with the two new theatres providing the latest technology with regard to medical care.

“For us all at ROK we are honoured to be involved in a project that will have such an impact on the medical care for the people of Jersey. However we would like to point out at this stage that without the help of the project team – Currie and Brown, Project Managers; Colin Smith and Partners, Project Quantity Surveyors; Jersey Property Holdings, Project Architects and Project Sponsor; TNG Limited, M&E Consultants; and Rothwells & Partners, Structural Engineers – and the assistance of the health staff, this project would not have been the success that it is.

“We believe in building and maintaining strong relationships with our clients. With every successful construction project we undertake our focus is on partnership and collaboration. We have a strong client base and repeat business is very important to us, and we are trusted for our ability to manage both people and projects to ensure a successful build.

“As a team, we offer dedication, quality and time perspective.”
