The InterContinental London – The O2

InterContinental London

Boasting sophistication and style, the 5 star, InterContinental London – the O2, is situated adjacent to London’s O2 arena in North Greenwich. The beautiful hotel houses 453 bedrooms, as well as five individual restaurants and bars, and offers splendour and comfort in equal measure.

Designed to meet the highest standards of sustainability the InterContinental London – The O2 features a dedicated conference centre complete with 20 multi-functional meeting rooms and an impressive 3000sqm pillar-free ballroom – one of the largest single event spaces in any European hotel.  Accommodating as many as 3000 delegates, the hotel’s Arora Ballroom rivals many of its current London counterparts, attracting a range of events from congresses, exhibitions to banquets and award ceremonies as part of its full service offering.

The InterContinental London – The O2 is managed and operated by The Arora Group under a franchise agreement with the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG®). As one of the UK’s fastest growing privately-owned hotel companies, The Arora Group has built up an excellent reputation for design, construction and operation of luxury hotels, with each hotel boasting exceptional levels of hospitality.

Construction work began on the 18-storey hotel in August 2013, with work taking just over two years to complete. The hotel officially opened in December 2015.

Since opening its doors the hotel has received a great deal of positive feedback from guests and has even garnered attention from the industry, with the hotel recently making its way onto the shortlist for the European Hotel Design Awards 2016. The InterContinental London – The O2 has been shortlisted in the category of ‘Best Event Spaces’ for its very impressive Arora Ballroom & Conference Centre – a fantastic achievement.

G1 Architecture and Grove Developments worked on the Arora Ballroom & Conference Centre. The Arora Ballroom has a footprint of 3200m² and can hold a capacity of up to 2,400 people for dinner.

Alongside the Arora Ballroom & Conference Centre, the Intercontinental London – The O2 showcases a truly magnificent selection of hospitality facilities including a fine dining and all-day dining experience, as well as an 18th floor Sky Bar boasting an uninterrupted, panoramic view across the water to Canary Wharf and beyond.

The site’s Meridian Lounge, Clipper Bar, Market Brasserie, Peninsula Restaurant and Eighteen Sky Bar have been designed to capture panoramic views of the water from each space, providing an inspirational setting to reflect on the thriving trading activity of the 16th Century East India Docks. They enjoy the captivating views of London and the River Thames.

Situated on the ground floor is the Meridian Lounge, a relaxed and inviting lounge and bar that seats 80 guests. The International style menu offers a range of foods, including aromatic coffees, hot chocolate, freshly baked pastries, salads and gourmet sandwiches. The lounge also offers a stunning outdoor terrace area that can seat approximately 45 guests, offering a relaxed environment in order to work or entertain.

‘The Market Brasserie’ which is the largest restaurant, offers an interactive dining experience inspired by the original Greenwich trading markets and fresh new experiences from London’s bustling Billingsgate, Smithfield and Covent Garden markets  and can cater for 200 guests at full capacity. The lively brasserie boasts floor-to-ceiling windows and a 50m² open plan interactive kitchen which adds a touch of fun and theatre for the guests.

Located on the second floor of hotel is ‘The Peninsula Restaurant’, serving a daily fine-dining menu of modern European cuisine with a hint of exotic flavours reflective of the active spice trade that passed through East London’s docks.  The restaurant also offers a private dining room that can accommodate up to 24 guests and is available for those who wish to enjoy their meal in an exclusive environment.

On the hotel’s 18th floor is Eighteen Sky Bar; a stylish and sophisticated space exposing far reaching views of the London skyline and offering a cocktail menu inspired by spice, herbs and botanics. The bar serves a full range of local and international craft beers, specialist wines, spirits and Champagnes and a delicious refined Pan-Asian inspired menu. Situated just a few steps from the hotel’s penthouse and with an in-built dance floor, Eighteen can be hired exclusively for private parties and special events.

Speaking to Premier Hospitality about the hotel’s offering, Carl Chapman, Director of Food and Beverage at The Intercontinental London – The O2, said:

“We have two fantastic bars within the hotel – The Clipper Bar and Eighteen Sky Bar. The Clipper Bar focuses on hearty British food, spirits and wines, afternoon tea and serves modern twists on traditional lunch dishes.  It is the perfect destination to watch the sun set whilst enjoying bespoke cocktails and a food menu to complement.

“Eighteen offers high end spirits, champagnes and wines served alongside a Pan-Asian menu including Sushi, Sashimi and steamed buns. The hotel as a whole offers outstanding views of London, but the Eighteen Sky Bar truly captures the beautiful panoramic views of Greenwich, London City and Canary Wharf.”

The Spa at InterContinental London – The O2, is located on the ground floor, boasting a 17m indoor swimming pool, as well as a relaxation room, sauna and steam room. The hotel has collaborated with leading spa brand, ESPA to provide a full range of signature treatments.

For visitors wishing to utilise conference facilities, the hotel provides 19 meeting rooms within its custom built conference and events space on the mezzanine floor.

The hotel’s location also benefits from easy riverboat access into Greenwich Pier and is only 400m from North Greenwich tube station where guests can reach London’s West End within 15 minutes. London City Airport, carrying more than 3 million visitors each year and serving the many business travellers into Canary Wharf and the City of London, is also within six miles of the hotel.

Carl said:

“We look forward to welcoming guests old and new at the hotel.”
