Malmaison Brighton

Malmaison Hotel du Vin, the leading lifestyle hotel group has unveiled the new suites at Malmaison Brighton. The rooms, located in the hotel within the famous Brighton Marina district, has undergone a phenomenal transformation and is now welcoming guests.

Malmaison Brighton boasts 71 stunningly designed bedrooms and suites, each with its own particular style and personality. Dakota House of Design were brought in as specialists to design the new suites to sit within the ocean-front hotel; boasting modern décor, stylish furnishing and are blessed with a wash of natural light.

Speaking to Premier Hospitality magazine about the project, Dakota House of Design Managing Director Peter Hodgson said: “We were tasked to create assorted concepts for the suites, especially for hotels with two or more, where they could be designated as a ‘light’ and ‘dark’ concept, so at Brighton for example we have a ‘day and night time Ibiza’ concept. We are working with Malmaison to develop numerous concepts so they have these ready to roll-out as required at various hotels, with the different concepts selected to suite each specific hotel.”

Each room comes with free Wi-Fi, flat screen plasma TV, hairdryer, ironing board, same day laundry service, kettle, desk, minibar and 24hr room service.

Peter added: “The daytime suite at Brighton is beach orientated with sand and sea tones and washed timbers whereas the night time suite is very dark and moody. Both have large round flat discs of light on the ceilings with a number of programmes, so as the occupier you can have slowly changing colour in the room. In the daytime it is oranges, yellows and more burnt colours whilst the night time is more purples, plums and reds. The programmable system means that the rooms can transform from stagnant white to colour changes and cross fades, so you can have a nightclub feel in the room.”

Malmaison

Malmaison brings with it the brands iconic ‘Chez Mal’ bar and brasserie to Brighton – a fresh mix of contemporary styled dishes created from the finest ingredients, a vibrant mix of cocktails, bubbles by the bucket load and eclectic craft beers. This combined with fashionably eccentric interiors, a clubby vibe and stunning bar makes Malmaison Brighton the newest place in town to meet, catch up with friends and have a sensational time. It’s spacious, light and very relaxed. It’s where you can savour the aroma of your morning coffee, meet friends for lunch or sit out on the deck to watch the world go by below. The bar is open daily from 9am until late.

The Chez Mal Brasserie serves classic dishes with flare and skill, mixing French style with generous British portion sizes and modern American and Asian influences. Enjoy New York Strip Steaks with homemade steak sauce or a whole host of delicious dishes in the chic modern brasserie, or take it alfresco in the ship-shaped terrace overlooking the endless sea. For sea views without the sea breeze, try the conservatory with floor to ceiling glass windows. The Brasserie is open for breakfast Monday to Friday, 7am until 10am and weekends and bank holidays, 8am until 10:30am. Lunch is served Monday to Sunday from 12:30pm until 4pm, with dinner served Monday to Sunday, 5:30pm to 9:30pm.

The hotel’s sweeping terraces offer unrivalled views over Brighton Marina, one of Europe’s largest. Private balconies overlook the buzzing harbour, with the Chez Mal terrace offering the perfect spot for dining, drinking or dancing the night away.

Breaking the trend of traditional, mundane work space, the hotel introduces Work + Play to the city, with its new high tech, edgy and stylised business and events facilities. These can be easily moulded to suit everyone’s needs, with five meeting rooms and a capacity ranging from 8 to 140 – ideal for conferences and training days, but also for those more intimate occasions, weddings and private events.

Feedback on the makeover has been overwhelmingly positive. Peter said: “We have had some great comments; when Malmaison and Dakota first put the images of the rooms on social media the response was really, really good, which was then reinforced by the feedback from the people who have stayed in the rooms.”

Paul Roberts, Chief Executive Officer at Malmaison Hotel du Vin said: “We’re truly excited to bring Malmaison to Brighton – we feel the city and brand are a perfect pair. The team have worked tirelessly to transform the hotel to create something truly special. Malmaison Brighton really makes a bold statement in the Brighton hotel scene and we are incredibly proud of the transformation.”

Malmaison is an iconic boutique hotel brand with sites in 15 cities across the UK.  The Hotel Seattle, which is now Malmaison Brighton, was acquired in 2015 as part of a larger acquisition by the Malmaison Hotel du Vin Group of a portfolio of four hotels in the UK. The fast-growing and ever-popular Malmaison and Hotel du Vin Group portfolio now comprises of 33 leading boutique lifestyle hotels across the UK.

Peter concluded: “The fact that we have had very good feedback from Malmaison – who are very happy with what has been produced and how it is being received by their clientele – means a lot to us as they are a very important client. We work with a lot of different companies but future collaboration with the progressive and innovative team at Malmaison is definitely exciting as they are constantly challenging to stay fresh, relevant and cutting edge, which is very stimulating and inspiring.”
