Cantina Laredo – Holy Guacamole!

London’s first dedicated Guacamole and Tequila Bar has opened within the acclaimed modern Mexican restaurant, Cantina Laredo this winter.

Guests are transported straight to the heart and soul of Mexico nestled in the corazón of Covent Garden.

The venue’s new design, by the international award-winning Robert Angell, is inspired by Mexican nature, culture and tradition.

The captivating new space features warm woods, Aztec-inspired art and imported agave plants. State-of the art lighting and artistic clay plaster merges with more rustic materials and furniture, creating a sense of the classic and the contemporary in perfect harmony.

Cantina Laredo can accommodate private events for up to 100 people seated and 150 people standing. For smaller and more intimate get togethers, there is also the ‘Frida’ Private Dining Room that seats up to 14 people. From educational tequila tastings to live Mexican music, Cantina Laredo and their new bar ensures the merriest of Mexican fiestas.

The venue features their in-house “Guacamaestro” who theatrically prepare ‘The Great Eight Guacamoles’ in front of guests. As experts in the art of guacamole, Cantina Laredo use only house-selected and perfectly ripened Hass avocados with truly sensational ingredients to create one of a kind guacamoles.

The menu is a culinary exploration of Mexico’s regional cuisines in search of the most incredible flavours. Traditional and contemporary techniques combine to produce an intriguing menu that pays homage to authentic Mexican flavours.

Emphasis is on the bold and intense flavours with simple presentation using high quality ingredients. Dishes are authentic, but not traditional with a modern approach to recreate classic dishes and invent new ones.

The menu has been designed to create a sophisticated, yet informal and relaxed dining experience. There is no set procedure on ordering, dishes are designed to be shared at the table or enjoyed individually.

Diners can choose from dishes such as Aubergine Tostadas with Green Habanero Mayonnaise and Duck Tacos with Nutella Mole and Plums, so delicious they may lose their manners and forget how to share! They can then treat themselves to a juicy Jumbo Prawn with Guajillo Achiote and Aged Rib-eye with Yellow Habanero Butter, before finishing with indulgent desserts such as Chocolate Fondant with Dulce de Leche Ice Cream.

Leading the new Mexican wave of ‘sip, don’t slam’, with 100% blue agave tequilas and a range of Mezcals that will delight the smoky spirit lovers, the talented bar team will create premium margaritas and signature cocktails that embrace Mexico’s true spirit. Certified ‘Tequilistas’ will be on hand to guide guests through the unique tequila infusion menu.

An independent restaurant, Cantina Laredo is owned and operated daily by the Ginsberg family who are dedicated to creating a truly authentic modern Mexican experience. Tarryn Ginsberg has teamed up with one of Mexico City’s culinary experts, Roberto De la Parra to create take diners on an unforgettable journey through Mexico’s diverse regional cuisines.
