Dirty Martini – Birmingham’s new ‘cocktail heaven’

Cocktail experts have arrived in Birmingham with the opening of specialist cocktail bar Dirty Martini in Bennetts Hill this April, with a 330 capacity bar over two floors set in a Grade II listed building.

The martini bar group, which has bars in London, Leeds, Manchester and Cardiff, opened in the former Viva Brazil restaurant site on after a £1.2m make-over.

The interior also includes an upper mezzanine for up to 20 people, and there are a variety of large booths, banquettes and spaces for private parties.

Daniel Coffer, Development Director for Dirty Martini, said: “Dirty Martini Birmingham is the eleventh bar to open in the UK, and as such the design and interior of the Birmingham bar reflect the evolution of the Dirty Martini brand.

“Situated in a Grade II listed building in Bennetts Hill, an iconic area known for business and banking, we have worked with the space to develop bespoke lighting, artwork and stylish furniture.

“At the same time, we have looked to push the Dirty Martini brand, focusing on creating a late-night atmosphere. This is reflected in sophisticated tiling and neon artwork – most noticeably giving Birmingham its own set of ‘instagrammble’ neon wings.

“Set over two floors with a bar on each floor, the customer experience has been factored into every aspect of the design, including plenty of bookable spaces for private parties and experiences.”

In addition to cocktails, the bar also serves wines, spirits, beers and champagnes. The extensive Martini menu includes The Zeitgiest – Beefeater 24 Gin, Briottet Crème de Rhubarb, lemon juice, gomme syrup, Monin chai tea syrup and blackcurrant compote, and Fever Tree aromatic tonic.

Scott Matthews, Chief Executive Officer at Dirty Martini, said: “Birmingham city centre is going through a time of exciting development and growth, and we are thrilled to be a part of the transformation. Birmingham is renowned for its thriving nightlife. Our expansion in Cardiff, Manchester & Leeds was a huge success, and as a result we are progressing with our national roll out with confidence.”

Ian Clark from REI commented: “The bar makes a fantastic addition to the area, which currently has a great restaurant and bar trade.”

The substantial regional investment builds upon the success of Dirty Martini Cardiff, which has exceeded expectations. The Birmingham venue is part of Leisure operator CG Restaurants & Bars group’s wider plans for growth and expansion regionally.

With a bespoke range of Martinis and signature cocktails, sophisticated interiors and some of the UK’s best locations, Dirty Martini is one of the industry’s fastest growing bar groups.

Dirty Martini’s estate now includes venues in Bishopsgate, Covent Garden, Hanover Square, Islington, Monument, St Paul’s, Minories, Cardiff, Manchester, Leeds and Birmingham.
