Michael Colmer Plant Hire Ltd has completed its largest ever machinery expansion programme following a £1 million investment to increase its range of Kubota mini-excavators.

The machines, supplied by independent Kubota dealer Hosplant Sales Ltd, means the South East Essex-based plant hire business now boasts a Kubota fleet of over 60 machines.

Gary Mold, partner at Hosplant Sales Ltd, said: “Michael Colmer Plant Hire is a business that is going from strength to strength in the construction market.  This latest order, the biggest in the firm’s history, is testament to the quality of the service it provides.

“The business’ success is based on providing its customers with a unique service offering.  Michael Colmer Plant Hire only supply the highest specification equipment to the market, at a price that’s more in line with the hire of standard spec machines.  This is an extremely compelling proposition to contractors, driving significant growth as a result and ensuring a fantastic reputation for the business.”

Michael Colmer Plant Hire’s latest order includes a range of Kubota’s market leading and innovative construction equipment, from the compact micro zero-tail swing Kubota U10, right up to the powerful and robust 8-tonne KX080-4a.

Michael Colmer commented: “The construction sector in South East Essex is booming, with huge investment going into building new homes and other key infrastructure projects.  In order to ensure we are well placed to meet the needs of our customers, it was essential we bolstered our machinery fleet and I am delighted to have had the final machine delivered as part of our £1 million order in partnership with Hosplant and Kubota.

“We are extremely proud of the business we have created here.  Customers come to us because they know we only provide high spec excavators, and by doing this at a price more inline with standard spec machines, it gives us a major advantage over our competition.

“The reason we do this is because it’s better for our customers, it’s about adding value to their operations.  Ultimately, they want a machine that is reliable, that won’t let them down and can get the job done.  With Kubota, they get exactly that.  The high spec machines come with a host of features that enhance performance even further, like thumb operated switches on the joysticks for quick and easy proportional flow control for Aux 1 and Aux 2, Auto shift for smoother operation when dozing and turning, and factory fitted tie down points to increase safety during transportation.

“We also include options like reversing cameras and hydraulic hitches as standard on some machines too.  Hydraulic hitches are a massive advantage for operators on a house building site for instance to comply with regulations that some sites have and also to save time and the effort of having to get out of the cab each time to change attachments.”
