Hotel X – Downtown Toronto’s New Luxury Hotel
The Library Hotel Collection is proud to announce the opening of their first Canadian property. Hotel X Toronto is a unique 30-storey, 404-room lakefront urban oasis, which brings the most cutting-edge mix of hospitality, sports and entertainment options ever assembled in an urban setting to downtown Toronto. The property’s unique sports and entertainment concept – along with a lavish garden setting and spectacular lake views – creates an unparalleled environment for visitors and locals alike.
Hotel X Toronto is the only hotel on the historic Exhibition Place grounds, located just inside the iconic Princes’ Gates and opposite the Enercare Centre. Hotel X Toronto is divided into three buildings: The Hotel Tower, which includes 83,000sq.ft of diverse meeting space; TEN X TORONTO, an athletic and wellness facility with 90,000sq feet of indoor and outdoor activities and the historic Stanley Barracks. Hotel X Toronto is destined to become a Toronto landmark destination on the waterfront as it welcomes guests to its restaurants, art gallery, cinemas, meeting spaces, historical exhibits, beer garden, signature three-storey rooftop lounge, Falcon SkyBar and 50-foot long heated rooftop indoor/outdoor ‘Pond at Falcon SkyBar’ offering year-round access and views from the 28th floor.
The hotel was designed by Stephen B. Jacobs Group Architects, with interiors by Andi Pepper Interior Design. Construction work was undertaken by Magil Construction Ontario Inc.
Stephen B. Jacobs, CEO of the Stephen B. Jacobs Group said: “The hotel was constructed atop a historic site. Archaeological excavations were conducted and uncovered the foundations of a former Enlisted Men’s Barracks, which we incorporated into one of the main entrances of the hotel from Princes’ Boulevard. A glass floor was installed to make the foundations a major part of the guest experience when entering the hotel from that direction. The excavations uncovered many items that were in daily use by the occupants of the barracks and are part of the historic objects displayed at the hotel entrance.”
Guests enter the Hotel Tower through a sleek and modern three-storey Grand Lobby where a stunning visual impact is achieved by bringing the natural beauty of the surrounding gardens inside with a living green wall. Other features include two linear fireplaces crowned by expansive skylights and floor to ceiling windows, VIP check-in area and dedicated departure lounge with views of Lake Ontario. The exceptionally appointed 404 guest rooms and 39 suites feature a contemporary design with pops of colour and 98% of rooms provide views to Lake Ontario’s, Mississauga and/or the downtown Toronto Skyline. Taking luxury to the next level, the bi-level Presidential Suite offers a two-storey living room, fireplace and could be expanded to include three bedrooms while the single-level Presidential Suite is a luxury penthouse with two bedrooms and extraordinary views of the city and Lake Ontario.
“As there are no tall buildings to block 360 degree views of the downtown business district, the lake and downtown views of the city of Toronto really open up,” said Stephen.
Those staying at Hotel X Toronto have full access to TEN X TORONTO athletic centre, an athletic facility with 90,000sq.ft of indoor space and terraces. State-of-the-art amenities include: four indoor, tennis courts, rooftop pool, nine glassed-back squash courts, fitness centre including four studios and a golf simulator with 90+ courses. Those looking for peace and tranquillity can participate in Harmony Rooftop Yoga or visit Harmony Spa by the Lake, the second location of the Library Hotel Collection’s award-winning Harmony Spa at the Aria Hotel Budapest, which offers 10 treatment rooms including two spacious couples’ suites with pre and post treatment lounges. A 3,000sq.ft Play Centre has been specially designed to be the ultimate children’s destination with video game consoles, age-appropriate activities and toys, as well as child-friendly sports courts for kids and teens to enjoy while their parents are taking advantage of Hotel X Toronto’s other facilities.
All on-site dining options are under the direction of one on of Toronto’s most celebrated award-winning hospitality groups, byPeterandPauls.com and include Petros’ 82, a 10,000sq.ft Mediterranean fine-dining restaurant due to open fall 2018, the more casual all day-eatery, Maxx’s Kitchen, the self-serve fresh market Nespresso Café, private VIP Library Club Lounge and the Falcon SkyBar.
Stephen ended: “We want people to know that we have created a new destination and urban centre for the enjoyment of everyone, including travellers, business people and locals to experience. We wanted to incorporate the history of the site into a modern design vocabulary in a way that is cohesive.”
