Premier Hospitality International 1.6

Welcome to the latest edition of Premier Hospitality International – our hospitality focus that celebrates projects worldwide. This issue we check in at Muraka; we marvel at Fjordenhus; and we take a look at Detroit Foundation Hotel.

Believed to be the world’s first undersea residence, The Muraka is scheduled to open at Conrad Maldives Rangali Island later in the fourth quarter of 2018. Created thanks to a $15m USD investment, The Muraka is a revolutionary concept that will transform the Maldives experiences for travellers who want to be truly immersed within the natural beauty of the Indian Ocean.

Meanwhile, Fjordenhus (Fjord house) the first building designed entirely by artist Olafur Eliasson and the architectural team at Studio Olafur Eliasson opened on 9 June in Vejle, Denmark. Commissioned by KIRK KAPITAL, the company’s new headquarters offer a contemporary interpretation of the idea of the total work of art, incorporating remarkable site-specific artworks by Eliasson with specifically designed furniture and lighting. Rising out of the water, Fjordenhus forges a striking new connection between Vejle Fjord and the city centre of Vejle – one of Jutland peninsula’s thriving economic hubs.

And finally, shortlisted in the Best Urban Hotel Conversion category of the AHEAD Awards, the Detroit Foundation Hotel  – one of the busiest restaurants in Michigan – ushers in a modern, independent hotel experience to support Detroit’s resurgence as a national hotbed for industry and culture. The 100-key new hotel, owned by the Aparium Group, is located in the former Detroit Fire Department headquarters at the gates of downtown Detroit. The hotel is also home to The Apparatus Room, a New American restaurant offering a hyper-regional experience demonstrated through the culinary style of Michigan-native and two Michelin-starred chef Thomas Lents.

With all this and more it’s time to sit back and marvel at all of the great projects across the world, courtesy of Premier Hospitality International.

Enjoy!
