In a move that further deepens the company’s bench of experts, Keyline, the UK’s leading supplier of Civils & Drainage solutions, has appointed Chris Metcalf as Business Development Manager for Geotechnics in Scotland and the North. Chris will work with Keyline’s Business Development Director, Emma Ward, to increase the company’s productivity and growth, and empower its staff to make a difference across the industry.

Chris has over 24 years’ experience in sales and management, and is considered an expert in the field of geotechnics.  Most recently, he was a Business Distribution Partner for Tensar, managing accounts for three UK distributors, including Keyline. Having worked on numerous projects and with many of the company’s key account managers for several years, Chris made the decision to change teams.

Alongside Emma Ward, Chris will source opportunities guaranteed to add value to the wider Keyline team, supplying consumers with the best solutions to their problems whilst ensuring sustainability is an integral part of every project he oversees. As a role that requires a unique mix of technical ability and commercial sales experience, it is one for which Chris is more than prepared:

“I’m excited to be working for Keyline as the company grows further as an industry leader. Keyline embodies inspiration, which is why I was so keen to join the team; from the company’s sustainability initiative, Zero to Landfill, to its legacy and focus on empowering staff to make a difference – Keyline goes over and above, whilst still maintaining a successful business. It’s all about encouraging our workers to be the best in their field, and  providing them with the right tools and necessary knowledge to achieve this goal.”

Speaking on the appointment, Business Development Director Emma Ward adds: “Chris and I have a similar outlook and goals. We both believe that empowering staff is key to ensuring the company’s success, and this is something we are excited to work on together. Chris brings a lot of experience and expertise that I know will benefit Keyline as a business. We are keen to create symbiotic relationships with our clients and Chris’ appointment will help us to further achieve this.”

In addition to developing its business, Keyline also believes in the importance of developing its workforce. In particular, the company is focused on ensuring employees’ health and well-being and guaranteeing that every worker on every project has access to support, as statistics[1] show that nearly a third (30%) of construction workers have taken time off to address mental health issues. The company will also be continuing its to increase sustainability across its projects and reduce its ecological footprint.
