GAP Event Services, a division of GAP Hire Solutions, the UK’s largest independent rental company, has been shortlisted for two awards at the prestigious Festival Supplier Awards.

The Festival Supplier Awards were created to recognise the achievements and hard work of outdoor event and festival suppliers. The award categories cover a multitude of outdoor event essentials from staging, crowd management, temporary structures and crewing to crowd barriers, toilets, technology and glamping.

This year GAP has been nominated within both the ‘Best Crowd/Pit Barrier’ and ‘Best Fencing/Hoarding’ categories.

During 2018, GAP Event Services supplied numerous events with its huge offering of products available from the various other divisions within the company. GAP was chosen by CSM Sport and Entertainment to support the Adidas Series Run supplying crowd control barriers, fencing and trackway. The series ran over five separate dates throughout the year. GAP was awarded the first contract with CSM in 2017 after the event director had been so impressed by the previous work of one of its project managers that he contacted GAP to discuss the plans for their upcoming events. Since this success GAP has become CSM’s preferred supplier.

Whilst supplying their regular customers, the events team had the additional challenge of supplying the fencing and barriers across 15 sporting and non-sporting venues for the European Championships this year. The Events team installed, and subsequently removed, over 12,000 linear metres (lm) of fencing and 69,981lm (43.5 miles) of barriers across the 15 venues. All venues were fully cleared by GAP within seven days of the games ending – this meant that GAP helped the event managers achieve their objective of minimising the impact the games had on the daily lives and routines of Glasgow’s residents and commuters.

Since 2014, GAP has supplied all of Glasgow City Council’s yearly events, building a strong working relationship with them in the process. GAP’s Events team’s past experience and success working with the Commonwealth Games, that were held in Glasgow in 2014, meant that the council’s events team was confident in choosing GAP to support the European Championships successfully.

Throughout the summer of 2018, GAP also worked with an internationally renowned entertainment agency to support the tours of various leading music artists. With 17 venues in total, GAP supplied varied quantities of fencing, barriers, toilets and plant to various locations nationwide. Thanks to GAP’s 140+ depots located all over the UK, this was not an issue. All the equipment was of the highest standard, supported by high levels of service, with the added insurance of the Account Manager being available 24/7 and first-rate site support on hand from the first delivery to the last collection.

Daimon Dunhue, GAP Event Services Division Manager, commented: “The Events division at GAP has grown an average of 19% a year since 2014. I believe this is due to the team’s absolute commitment and passion for the events we work on. This is embodied by the team being available to our customers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and always doing our best to provide a solution to our customer needs whatever they may be.

“The team genuinely care about the events we work on and take a personal interest in the success of the event. I’m hugely proud of the team we’ve built at GAP.”

The Festival Supplier Awards ceremony will be held in London’s Hurlingham Club on Thursday 31st January 2019.
