A Taste of Luxury: Champagne Billecart-Salmon
Written by Amy

A Taste of Luxury, InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort’s year-long series of premium gastronomic experiences at award-winning restaurant La Maison 1888, continues on 31 August with Champagne Billecart-Salmon.

The champagne house has remained in the Billecart-Salmon family for over seven generations. Its cuvées bear the House’s signature style of ethereal aromas and delicate expression, exalted by ancestral methods of vinification.

In 1999, at a blind tasting of 150 champagnes by a select panel of experts organised in Stockholm by Richard Juhlin, the Cuvée Nicolas Francoise Billecart 1959 was named the Champagne of the Millennium, and later described as “a totally perfect champagne in its category.” The 1961 vintage came second, burnishing the House’s reputation for sublime quality and precision.

Several remarkable champagnes will be available at the dinner, including the Brut Rosé, known for its finesse and pale radiance; the complex and elegant Blanc de Blancs; the fine and harmonious Brut Réserve; and the powerful Brut Sous Bois. The refined Cuvée Elisabeth Salmon 2007, created as a tribute to one of the House’s founders, will be poured, as will the noble Cuvée Louis Salmon, a tribute to Elisabeth’s brother.

Adding a special aura of rarity to the evening is the venerable presence of Chef Pierre Gagnaire himself. The three Michelin-starred French chef is a well-known iconoclast at the forefront of the fusion cuisine movement and his presence is sure to make the event an entrancing culinary affair to be remembered.

Guests can reserve one of the limited dinner places for VND 6,899,000++ per person, or book a weekend stay with the Taste of Luxury package, inclusive of daily buffet breakfast, return airport transfers and seats at the exclusive dinner for two.

A Taste of Luxury began in March with Château Angelus, one of the foremost properties in Saint- Émilion. Owner and winemaker Hubert de Boüard de Laforest was on hand at the dinner, which was filled to capacity. It was followed by a dinner with the storied Bordeaux estate Château Palmer in April, with the third exclusive event slated on 10 July with the distinguished Château Pichon Baron.
