Sheraton Grand London Park Lane has teamed up with premium limoncello brand, Pococello, to bring the ‘Summer of Limoncello’ to its Italian restaurant, Mercante. From 1st July, Mercante will launch a new menu that brings the zesty taste of Amalfi Coast lemons to nine brand-new dishes, masterclasses with a Limoncello Sommelier and a Chef’s Table Experience to learn more about the Italian tipple of the summer. The restaurant will also have a bespoke drinks trolley housed with seven varieties of Limoncello, which guests can enjoy whilst reading up on the Limoncello etiquette guide created by Mercante and Pococello.
Turning the traditional idea of Limoncello as a digestif on its head, the ‘Summer of Limoncello’ includes a variety of Italian summertime favourites, with an added twist of citrus – from Tuna Tartare, with a Cucumber Limoncello Granita to a citrus Risotto with Asparagus.
Mercante will also be launching a specialist limoncello cocktail menu using Pococello – with four bespoke drinks available only during the ‘Summer of Limoncello’.
Made with lemons that are sourced from a seventh-generation Aceto family grove above Amalfi Town itself, Pococello is an award-winning, clean and simple tipple that makes for an excellent mixer in cocktails or a palate cleansing ice-cold digestif.
Food and Beverage Manager, Cedric Lescure says “Limoncello is synonymous with summertime. So to bring some guaranteed sunshine to Mercante and to our terrace we have introduced a brand new menu and cocktails in partnership with Pococello. We are now declaring the summer of 2019 the ‘Summer of Limoncello’ with masterclasses, Chef’s Table bookings and Limoncello flights. We hope all guests will be transported to the Italian streets of the Amalfi coast with our refreshing menu.”
Mercante will be running a programme of activities to celebrate the ‘Summer of Limoncello’ including free masterclasses with a Limoncello sommelier where guests will learn about the rich Italian heritage of Limoncello, take part in tastings and have the opportunity to see first-hand how Limoncello is made.
General Manager at Pococello, Harry Pattison said: “The hero of Pococello is the quality of the lemons sourced from Amalfi Town itself. The essential oils within the peel produces the finest Limoncello and its versatility in cocktails and spritz’s makes it an exciting alternative for your Aperitif.”
Guests at Mercante who are dining with a group of eight or more people will be given the chance to book the Summer of Limoncello Chefs Table experience. This will include Head Chef Davide D’Ignazio serving diners the new dishes on the menu himself. D’Ignazio will also explain how the dishes have been infused with Pococello and the inspiration behind the whole Summer of Limoncello offering at Mercante. Each guest will be given a complimentary cocktail from the limited edition summer menu, and gifted a bottle of Pococello to take home with them.
Taste buds will tingle with the opportunity to sample different types of Limoncello with Mercante’s bespoke drinks trolley. Visitors can sample an array of the Italian tipple whilst reading up on the exclusive ‘Limoncello Etiquette Guide’ created in partnership with Pococello. The guide highlights the optimum serve temperature, how to drink, when to drink, correct glassware and tips on sharing with friends.
