This Month in Premier Retail 3-1

Welcome to Premier Retail – the premier construction tool for the retail industry.

In this month’s issue we take a look back at Retail EXPO 2019; we highlight a new flagship store for Microsoft; and we take a look at Aldi Shanghai.

RetailEXPO, Europe’s leading retail trade show, celebrated tech innovation and design inspiration, bringing in more visitors from senior level retailers and brands than ever before.

Held at London’s Olympia on 1st and 2nd May 2019, RetailEXPO’s new show format unified Reed’s three leading retail shows. Borne out of extensive, independent research amongst senior retailers, and reacting to the changes in the industry, RetailEXPO evolved into the trade event that truly reflects the needs of UK retail.

A reinvigorated conference programme saw six streams of insightful content, presented by leading retailers including Lego, Virgin Holidays, Naked Wines, Mamas and Papas and Asda, with keynote sessions from Justin King, CBE and ex-CEO of Sainsbury’s, and Helen Dickinson, CEO at the British Retail Consortium.

Microsoft has opened its flagship Microsoft Store in London with the doors opening to the general public on 11 July 2019. The first physical retail store for Microsoft in the UK is located on Oxford Circus and covers 21,932 square feet over three floors.

Those who work, live, shop in or visit the UK are able to test and experience the latest technology, products and services from Microsoft and their partners. Interactive zones, surrounded by immersive video walls running throughout the store, make this the best place to get hands-on with Surface, Windows, Office, Xbox and PC gaming, HoloLens mixed-reality and more.

Landini Associates was engaged by ALDI China to design a new trading format for the brand ahead of their first entry into the Chinese market, commencing with two pilot stores. The new Chinese stores are a milestone for the German-rooted retailer and have drawn massive interest for both the media and public, with managed queues snaking outside both stores for hours upon opening.

With all this and much more inside, please join us as we explore the projects which continue to shape the retail sector. Go Well!
