IHG Hotels & Resorts®, one of the world’s leading hotel companies, honors the heritage of the Holiday Inn® brand as its Holiday Inn Resort Aruba – Beach Resort & Casino, property rings in its 50th anniversary with celebrations that pay homage to its longstanding relationships with guests, staff and local community. The celebration took place on October 22 at the hotel’s Oceanside Terrace and was attended by Dangui Oduber, Minister of Tourism of Aruba, Ronella Tjin Asjoe-Croes, CEO of the Aruba Tourism Authority, and Tisa LaSorte, President of Aruba Hotel and Tourism Association.

Errol Williams, Global Brand Vice President, Holiday Inn, IHG said: “We are proud of Holiday Inn Resort Aruba and the team for reaching this momentous milestone for the property. The hotel continues to be a shining example of the Holiday Inn brand, providing guests with warm, welcoming hospitality and modern comforts that keep them coming back year after year.  We congratulate hotel leadership and the entire team continue as they continue to deliver our brand promise every day.”

Founded in 1952 by Kemmons Wilson, Holiday Inn has been a trusted hotel partner for families and business travelers across the world. In 1969, the Holiday Inn Resort Aruba opened its doors to welcome both leisure and business travelers to the vibrant island of Aruba. It was only the third hotel to open on Aruba’s beachfront, and quickly began expanding its capacity to welcome new guests. In 1975, the property was expanded to 400 rooms, making it the largest hotel on the island at the time. In 1989, a third expansion saw the arrival of the resort’s Sea Tower. With 590 guestrooms and suites, beachfront restaurants and bars, event and meeting spaces, as well as a spa, the Holiday Inn Resort Aruba is now the longest-running international hotel brand on the island, keeping the same namesake for 50 years.

The Holiday Inn Resort Aruba property has been commemorating its 50th anniversary with events throughout the year, beginning with the inauguration of the Hadrey Gallery in the hotel’s main lobby. The gallery, which was named after the gathering space in traditional Aruban homes, displays a collection of images of the hotel’s history and beloved employees – some of whom have been with the hotel for over 30 years.

Positioned in the heart of Palm Beach, on the beachfront of sparkling-blue waters and steps away from the best shopping malls & nightlife of the island; the Holiday Inn Resort Aruba provides guests with the opportunity to explore the area’s diverse activities.

IHG® has hotels in nearly 100 countries, with 239 hotels and 40,216 rooms throughout Mexico, Latin America and the Caribbean. With roots in Latin America, IHG’s first InterContinental® hotel opened in Belem, Brazil in 1949
