The UK’s biggest outdoor retailer, Go Outdoors, recently hosted the business’s annual conference at EventCity.
Organised by the JD Outdoors Group and welcoming over 600 delegates from GO Outdoors, Blacks, Millets and Ultimate Outdoor, the conference brings staff together from across the country and showcases all of the latest product launches. Giving teams the unique opportunity to learn about the company’s plans for the upcoming season, attendees could also meet some of the biggest brands in the outdoors market, exhibiting at the event.
The first time the conference has been held at EventCity, the largest and most versatile exhibition, conference and multi-purpose venue in the North of England, Dominic Baker from the Go Outdoors Internal Communications team shares his thoughts on what he considers was a very well delivered, high-polished event.
“On my first visit to EventCity, I realised it was the perfect venue for our conference; the adaptable, ‘box’ style of EventCity really worked well for us and gave us a lot of flexibility with the layout of our activity.
“The team were fantastic from start to finish, really understanding our needs as a business and what we wanted to achieve from the event. From the initial planning stages to the breakdown of the event the staff were great, even when there were last minute requests from our side they were really accommodating.”
Following the event, Baker shared that delegates and exhibitors couldn’t have been happier with their experience at EventCity: “Our attendees were thrilled with the event, we received a lot of comments on the size and many mentioned that they liked the good lighting in the hall and the carpet, which gave the event a high-end feel.
“Many also told us how much they enjoyed the food and drink on offer, commenting that it was of a very high standard.”
EventCity delivered an informal sit down meal for the 600 delegates, with the entire banquet prepared within The Kitchen – EventCity’s in-house food and beverage offering. The Kitchen boasts freshly cooked, locally sourced food, with bespoke menus specially created for events. Commenting that the meal itself went so smoothly it was like a ‘military operation’, it’s no surprise the Go Outdoors team are looking to return in 2020.
Sue Dodds, Sales Manager at EventCity, commented: “The Go Outdoors Conference was a great event for us, we worked really well with the internal team and were pleased with the results delivered.”
In follow up, attendees were asked a couple of questions to gain their thoughts on the venue and event. When asked for their views on the facilities, including parking, bathrooms and temperature, 93% of attendees answered good to excellent.
Furthermore, attendees were also asked to share their opinion on EventCity as a venue – with a huge 96% opting for good to excellent.
Dodds added: “We were thrilled with the comments from delegates on the day and the responses we received to our questions were an added bonus. To know the space and event we delivered were so enjoyable for them was a great achievement for the team.”
EventCity is located in the heart of TraffordCity, where attendees can enjoy an abundance of activities to enjoy during their visit.
Days can be advanced with a range of adventure activities including ski slopes at Chill Factore and indoor skydiving at iFly. Located just a stone’s throw away from intu Trafford Centre, the popular leisure destination boasts over 150 stores such as Selfridges and John Lewis, and is home to popular restaurants including San Carlo and Carluccio’s, leaving visitors to EventCity spoilt for choice.
