Introducing The Spa at Carden

Situated in the picturesque countryside, the luxurious new destination spa, The Spa at Carden, aims to offer a spa experience like no other in the area. The much-anticipated spa officially opened its doors on 6th January 2020 with a ribbon cutting ceremony by Steve and Sally Morgan, owners of Carden Park, Spa Director Steve Ewing and Hamish Ferguson, General Manager.

Nicki Kurran, the projects Spa Consultant, told PREMIER CONSTRUCTION MAGAZINE: “Carden Park is a very well established property which already had a spa within the hotel but the owners wanted to create something quite different from their original offering so the decision was made to build a separate spa within the grounds of the hotel.”

The 4,500sqm standalone spa is set within the 1,000 acre grounds of the privately owned, award-winning Carden Park Hotel and offers superior service, world class facilities and a seamless spa experience. The indoor and outdoor spa facilities are amongst the most impressive in the UK and include two large vitality pools, an extensive thermal suite, a glamorous beauty lounge and soothing relaxation spaces.

The Spa at Carden also has one of the UK’s largest spa gardens, offering an expansive multi-sensory wellbeing experience with numerous thermal spaces and an all-weather Bollinger Champagne bar. Developed to provide guests with a ‘nature reset’ whatever the weather, the extensive garden’s state-of-the-art features facilitate a journey to improved physical and mental wellbeing.

Nicki added: “It is the spa garden, which is the real USP for Carden, that really sets it apart from any other spa project that I have worked on.  The design is beautiful, the interiors are stunning but it really is the garden that makes it stand out.

“A lot of thought went into ensuring that the experiences in the garden can be used 365 days of the year and that guests experience won’t be impacted by a bit of bad weather.”

The spa continues this flow of nature form the outside in, with its spacious interiors comprising warm earthly tones, feature walls and contemporary statement furnishings that give a sophisticated but relaxing ambiance. The mood lit relaxation room, complete with floor to ceiling windows, offers unrivalled sweeping views over the Cheshire landscape, as does the elegant first floor restaurant.

The full range of face and body treatments have been designed by natural product house, Elemental Herbology, and is based on the Five Element Theory in Traditional Chinese Medicine, a belief that everything in life needs to work in harmony in order to achieve perfect equilibrium. In keeping with this theory, the treatments even incorporate natural and freshly picked herbs from The Spa at Carden’s garden.

Upon the opening, Steve Ewing, Director of The Spa at Carden said: “This is an incredibly exciting time for us and the end result has surpassed expectations. The Spa at Carden is truly world-class bringing together the best facilities, new treatments and the highest level of service.”

General Manager of Carden Park, Hamish Ferguson added: “The arrival of the Spa at Carden is our biggest development yet and will firmly establish us as a world leading destination spa resort, fully complementing our other extensive leisure services. I am proud of the fantastic work all our staff and suppliers have undertaken to make The Spa at Carden truly magnificent.”

Nicki concluded: “It has been a wonderful project to be involved with. We are all incredibly proud of the finished spa and how it has been received by our guests. It has also been enjoyable to work with such a fantastic team, and to have such a range of different skills come together to create this beautiful new spa.”
