JAB is the newest and most authentic class-based boxing studio to hit London.
Drawing on the heritage, community and spirit of boxing, JAB is fully inclusive, with an electric atmosphere bringing back the old-school to London’s fitness scene. Located on Mayfair’s North Audley Street, JAB offers 45-minute sessions for up to 40 people at a time, and workouts are based on bag-work, bodyweight and strength conditioning, getting people to focus and lose themselves in the explosive energy of each class. Stripping back the fitness game as we know it, JAB’s mission is to inspire each and every person who walks through the door, and demonstrate the life-changing impact of back-to-basics boxing.
The boxing studio is the brainchild of former England boxing team captain and multi-title winner and ex- Bodyism trainer, George Veness, who grew up in London’s East End and started boxing when he was six years old. Co-founder Jamie Landesberg has been coached and inspired by George himself for years, and her family has deep roots in the boxing world. United in their goal to build a community offering a mental and physical experience like no other, JAB will leave attendees feeling more confident, more empowered and stronger than ever before.
JAB’s core team of trainers have been carefully selected from some of the very best clubs in
London. The founding core team is led by George (whose clients have gone on to win gold and silver titles, amongst an impressive list of celebrities), and is made up of Louis Rennocks (Master Trainer in group fitness), Esmée Gummer (Ultra-marathon runner and challenge junkie), Freddie Villiers (Trainer & amateur fighter) and Miranda Fox aka MK (female empowerer & group fitness expert).
With varied backgrounds, skillsets and techniques, the team is unparalleled in their calibre and strength, and no two classes are the same. Staying true to boxing heritage, JAB’s trainers are known as coaches; mentors more than instructors, there to guide and inspire with the ultimate goal being to transform people’s lifestyle.
JAB comprises a large lower ground studio and a smaller studio for private sessions. For the interior design an atmospheric, darkly lit corridor runs alongside the main studio and a screen at the far end streams iconic fights so that each client will experience their very own ring-walk as they enter a class. Steering away from the nightclub-style of so many of the world’s fitness clubs, JAB has instead adopted an old school and authentic feel, from the interiors to its overall vibe.
Interior designers AvroKo have drawn on the boxing clubs of the 1960s and 70s, with antique leather furniture, real wooden floors and panelling, exposed brick, brass metalwork and a colour palette of yellow and blue, reflective of an old-school boxing kit. Walls are lined with vintage boxing gloves, original fight posters, and photographs of boxing legends to fully immerse attendees in the heritage of boxing; a seamless blend of past and present.
The ground floor also houses a reception area and café to encourage boxers to socialise and create that important community feel. With a timeless approach to health, JAB does not believe in fad diets or quick-fix workouts. Instead, their focus is on creating a community people love, workouts that make them feel empowered, eating natural foods, sleeping well and being consistent.
One class is £25 (10 classes at £22.50/class; 20 classes at £20/class; 50 classes at £18.50/class). To discover more, and book your first class, visit: https://jab-box.com
