Tiffin Jersey opens its doors

Situated on Castle Quay Marina, St Helier and boasting views of Elizabeth Castle, Tiffin is a brand new 200-cover fine dining and drinking venue.

The site officially opens in March 2013 – following a soft opening in early February – and includes a champagne and Cicchetti bar, along with a fantastic selection of food.

Tiffin Jersey is divided into two sections: one is a casual dining area where guests can pop in for a cup of tea and a slice of cake, enjoy an all day menu and dig in to the venetian tapas, meanwhile the second area is reserved for fine dining and is backed up by a very extensive and mouth watering menu. Additional seating is provided via a winter terrace area which overlooks the marina.

Tiffin Jersey is owned by husband and wife team Linda and Nick Wring and the opening of the new site follows on from the success of their previous Tiffin site in Clevedon.

Discussing the Tiffin brand, Linda and Nick commented:

“It has been just over two years since we opened our doors on a hot August Monday. Two years on, our opening core values have remained the same, of dedicated respectful service, quality local produce served in an innovative understandable way and a refusal to accept second best.

“Running Tiffin is like putting on a live show every day – but without a script!”

Commenting on the new site in St Helier, Tiffin Marketing and Events Coordinator, Kate Wycherley, said:

“Tiffin Jersey is all about providing our guests with everything that they would expect from a venue like ours. Customers can pop in for a coffee and sit quietly with a magazine if they just want a place to escape from the outside world, or if they require something a little more substantial we have a place where they can take advantage of our extensive, and innovative, menu.

“We have quite a quirky menu created by an excellent, young and talented kitchen team, which makes use of locally sourced ingredients. Trademark freshly made cakes and extensive range of loose leaf teas are a particular highlight. In fact, we offer customers up to 25 different teas to choose from, all supplied by the ‘London Tea Palace’.”

Kate added:

“All Tiffin staff are expertly trained in providing the best possible customer service and we look forward to welcoming all of our customers.”

Dandara was the main contractor on the project, whilst UK-based architect, artist and designer Naomi Triggol provided Tiffin with an unrivalled and stunning design, based around Nick and Linda’s vision. It’s true to say visitors to the new restaurant are taken aback with the cleverly considered design.

The Carpenters Workshop was responsible for the fit-out works on the project, and provided Tiffin with solid oak bar tops, back bar fittings and associated seating, which were built in the UK mainland and shipped to Jersey.

Commenting on the project, Tiffin Jersey Project Manager, Giles Day, said:

“Tiffin is housed below approximately 300 flats, inside a concrete constructed building with glass fronted windows. When we took on the site it was just a concrete shell, so we undertook a fit out and have transformed it into a fantastic looking venue.

“From a construction point of view, this project was great to be a part of and I’m pleased to say that everything ran smoothly throughout the programme of works. To take a concrete shell and work with contractors and designers to create the finished product is a fantastic achievement.”
