Heathside & Lethbridge: Phase Two

The second phase of a six phase scheme to regenerate an existing estate in Lewisham is currently underway.

Throughout the overall scheme, the Heathside & Lethbridge housing estate is being transformed into a mixed tenure development consisting of more than 1200 high quality private and affordable homes. The scheme is being implemented by Lewisham and Family Mosaic Housing Association and all units have been designed to meet Code Level 4.

Phase Two of the project comprises the construction of a 17 storey building, along with associated smaller buildings which will provide 190 new homes for affordable rent, shared ownership and private sale. Additional work includes the creation of a new entrance road for the estate and associated infrastructure works.

Leading Design and Build contractor, Ardmore is the main contractor on Phase Two of the scheme. The second phase follows on from work conducted on Phase One in 2011, which comprised the construction of a 16 storey building and associated facilities.

During Ardmore’s appointment on the project the company is engaging with local residents to discuss the ongoing progress of the scheme. Ardmore has employed a full-time Resident Liaison Officer (RLO), who will work out of an on-site office where consultation clinics will provide residents with a platform for their views.

Resident interaction is one of the regeneration scheme’s key objectives and takes into account the design and logistics of the scheme. Residents are to benefit from employment and skills opportunities and Ardmore is currently working towards meeting Lewisham’s goal of utilising local labour on 50% of the project.

For more than 30 years, Ardmore has grown to become one of the UK’s largest, privately owned, Design and Build main contractors. The company offers a unique, full capability service which supports all aspects of construction and development and works on schemes up to the value of £150 million.

Ardmore prides itself on its commercial approach and professionalism and has gained a reputation for delivering a range of projects, from residential and mixed-use developments, through to retail, leisure and education schemes. Projects for Ardmore include Ravensbourne in the Greenwich Peninsula, Dickens Yard in Ealing and St John Street in Islington.
