MWH was founded in 1820 and since their inception have played an integral role in the engineering, construction, and management of some of the largest and most technically advanced water, hydropower, mining and transportation projects for a variety of clients.

MWH work for municipalities, governments and private corporations across the world. The MWH team works on water engineering projects helping to help manage water purity and availability in a sustainable fashion.

Sectors such as water infrastructure, transportation infrastructure, construction engineering and mining services are where MWH focus their energy offering gold standard services to these sectors.

Engineering and construction are just a small part of what the firm does, they are also managers, consultants, policy and project advocates, information technology experts, public relations professionals and financial experts. The firm see themselves as the global go-to provider of infrastructure planning, design, construction and management services projects.

Working in more than 35 countries has enabled the firm to improve their skillset as well as help educate their clients on how to organise, plan, design and manage their assets more efficiently than before.

Currently the firm is undertaking works at Birmingham Bio Power building a Wood Gasification Plant which upon completion will produce 10.3MW of energy. The £50 million scheme, which is a joint venture between O-Gen and the UNA Group; known as Carbonarious, began in January 2014 and is scheduled for completion in March next year.

MWH Treatment Limited are the contractor on the scheme and are working alongside College Hill Architects, Nexterra UK, Lawlors Limited, Roltech Engineering Limited, Van Elle Limited and ASA Steel Structures Limited who undertook the door, walls, frame, roofing, stairs and window works.

ASA Steel Structures were established in 1986 as a family business. Since their inception the firm have specialised in the design, fabrication and erection of all types of structural steelwork incorporating both new build and refurbishment.

The ASA team ensures all of the projects they work on are economical and cost-effective by working closely with main contractors and consultants to satisfy all of the clients’ specific requirements. The team is also skilled at achieving the clients’ requirements within limited time constraints.

ASA are experts at the design and fabrication of traditional portal frames, beams and columns and have delivered these services on a number of retail, leisure, multi storey, industrial, commercial, health and education projects.

MWH have also worked for Southern Water as part of a joint venture with United Utilities and Costain on the AMP4 Single Entity Contract. The three organisations, named 4D, delivered Southern Water’s major capital schemes over a five year period from 2005 to 2010 comprising 250 projects.

These schemes included improvements to wastewater and sludge treatment works, a programme protecting homes from sewer flooding, first-time sewerage schemes, Combined Sewer Overflow schemes and projects to upgrade infrastructure to meet population growth. In addition, 4D is delivering   smaller programme of water treatment and supply improvements.
