A number of colleagues working for A-Plant’s Accommodation Division are amongst the first in the portable building industry to successfully complete the recently introduced Level 2 NVQ Diploma, specifically designed for the sector.

Six members of staff have passed the Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Innovative/Modern Methods of Construction – Modular/Portable Buildings Installer/Dismantler issued by Cskills Awards on behalf of the CITB (Construction Industry Training Board).

Through workplace mentoring, assessment and review, the Level 2 NVQ Diploma was designed to increase the number of formally qualified trade personnel working in the portable building industry. The qualification covers both the installation and dismantling of units on-site and the completion of various maintenance and refurbishment tasks related to portable buildings.

Ian Needham, Director for A-Plant Accommodation said: “This qualification allows us to upskill our employees and provides extensive support through a guided training programme over a period of several months. Once successfully completed, it also allows colleagues to apply for a CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card to cover the skilled work which they carry out on-site.”

The Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Innovative/Modern Methods of Construction – Modular/Portable Buildings Installer/Dismantler includes three mandatory units – Conforming to General Health and Safety in the Workplace, Conforming to Productive Working Practices in the Workplace, and Moving, Handling and Storing Resources in the Workplace, plus a series of optional units. Optional units include Installing and Dismantling Portable Building Structures in the Workplace and Applying Paint Systems by Brush and Roller.
