SIFER 2017 – Exhibitors prepare for France’s rail technology showcase

SIFER 2017

Leading rail managers, engineers and buyers will soon be gathering in Lille for SIFER 2017, France’s showcase event for railway technology, products and services. The show takes place at the Lille Grand Palais exhibition centre from 21 to 23 March and will be the tenth in a successful series of events that since 1999 have consistently grown in size and stature.

Organised by Mack Brooks Exhibitions, the company responsible for the UK’s Railtex and Infrarail events, SIFER is France’s only regular railway industry trade show. It therefore serves as a valuable shop window for the country’s internationally renowned expertise in this sector, and provides domestic and foreign suppliers with opportunities to support their pursuit of business in one of Europe’s major rail markets.

SIFER also helps participating companies to pursue export opportunities, thanks its successful track record of attracting foreign visitors. Of the 4,900 rail industry professionals who attended the last show in 2015, 17% were from abroad, representing some 40 countries.

More than 300 exhibitors

By the end of 2016 more than 300 companies from 20 countries had confirmed their participation, with many more expected to join them before doors open in Lille. At least 70 firms will be exhibiting at a SIFER event for the first time.

The scope of the exhibition embraces the entire rail sector, with a strong focus on the specialised subsystems and high-tech components that play vital roles throughout the industry – in many instances presented by companies that act as suppliers to larger undertakings. As a result, the exhibitor list features firms with expertise in fields such as electronics, electrical systems, mechanical engineering, communications technology and asset condition monitoring, as well as specialists in rail vehicle maintenance equipment, track products suppliers and companies providing infrastructure maintenance products and services.

An established and popular feature of the show is a large Infrastructure Area dedicated to companies active in this sector. This includes On Track Displays where exhibitors will present rail-mounted vehicles and track-related equipment in an authentic industry setting.

Support from leading organisations

SIFER has the support of key organisations leading the development of railway policy and technology in France. Acting as Show Partners, they include the Ministry for Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy, national railway company SNCF, rail industry umbrella organisation Fer de France, the suppliers association FIF and French regional government authorities and industry groups. Also supporting the event are international bodies like UNIFE and the European Union Agency for Railways.

Some of these Show Partners are contributing to the busy supporting programme at SIFER, comprising conferences, workshops, B2B meetings and technical seminars by exhibiting companies.
