JW Baron Earthworks is the very first customer in the UK to purchase Kubota’s new KX080-4a 2-Piece Boom on 600mm Wide Steel Tracks excavator in the UK following its recent launch.

The construction and environmental earthworks specialist based in South Devon, has taken delivery of the enhanced excavator with the 2-Piece Boom and 600mm wide steel tracks in the UK having sealed the deal with MST at Tiverton, Devon, a long serving Kubota dealership in the UK and a leading supplier of Construction, Agricultural and Groundcare machinery across the South West.

JW Baron Earthworks undertakes all types of land based contracts, from moving a few hundred cubic metres of earth, to bulk excavations and cut and fill projects. Many jobs involve landscaping work and flood alleviation, meaning the robustness and quality of its land equipment is crucial for business.

James Baron, Managing Director at JW Baron, commented: “This is the first Kubota machine we’ve had in our fleet. I bought the KX080-4a following an MST ‘dig and drive’ day last summer. I’ve known the Kubota rep and dealt with MST for a while so I went along to have a look at the Kubota machines on display. I was really impressed with the demonstration excavator, a KX080-4 equipped with a 2-piece boom and I could see lots of benefits it could bring to my company’’.

“The Kubota KX080-4a has already been particularly useful on a forestry contract. It has been used to regrade forest roads and reinstate trackside drains in ancient woodland. In some of the more confined sections the 2 piece boom has come into its own by enabling us to configure the machine so as not to damage the low branches of the trees. On this job the KX080-4a has improved efficiency over a larger excavator making this particular forestry project far easier to complete’’.

“With plenty of forthcoming contracts the excavator will predominantly be used on environmental and agricultural works. The KX080-4a has been supplied with 600mm wide track pads so it can assist with wetland restoration projects and flood alleviation schemes, as well as pond and water course repairs working alongside other machines from our fleet.”

James continued: “This is the largest machine we’ve purchased from MST, after previously buying ground care equipment from them. I was really impressed with the deal that was put together by MST and Kubota. They made having a Kubota product look very attractive, which is why I made the decision to purchase the excavator. When I need another machine in the future, they will no doubt be my first port of call.”

Robin Wearn, Construction Sales Specialist at MST, added: “The previous excavator model, the KX080-4, continues to be a popular machine, so I’m sure the KX080-4a will be received even better as it has further enhancements. This is what’s so great about Kubota, they listen to customer feedback and constantly look at ways to further improve the performance of their machines, helping to better meet the needs of our customers.

“Coming from an operator background, I have always appreciated Kubota machines, the build quality, reliability and performance. They are always updating machines as new technology and materials come out and also responding to the ever-changing requirements of the customer. The support and back up service is excellent and if we ever need parts or to ask technical questions, someone from Kubota is always on the other end of the phone willing to help.”
