Prudential Tower

Using the latest in LED and presentation technology, the 19th floor of Singapore’s Prudential Tower has been transformed into an innovative office space. Created by design firm Elliot James, the new floor offers extremely luxurious office space with a generous use of space and high-end finishes.

Since completion in October 2016, the makeover of the new floor has received envious glances and was recently nominated for a SBID International Design Award in the Office Design category. Responsible for the design, project management, furniture design and light features, Elliot James worked closely with the client to create an environment that was both stylish and functional. Founder and CEO Elliot Barratt said:

“In terms of the brief given it was quite loose but basically what they were looking for was an impressive boardroom and lounge/reception area. The client wanted a showstopper Singapore headquarters and it was up to us to interpret this. We knew they wanted a high level of technology and wanted a location to conduct high end meetings.

“On every project we work on it’s very important to create the right atmosphere. We wanted to make sure that during the day there was enough light to flood in but at the same time have a nice, soft ambience throughout. At night time knowing that a lot of the meetings would be going on late into the evening, we wanted a comfortable environment to conduct business.”

At the heart of the project was the use of technology to create high-level connectivity and display. Included within this is a bespoke 3D blue-and-gold panelled wall with integrated lighting which sits in front of a floor-to-ceiling LED wall and electronic privacy glass that, at the touch of a touch button, can frost up to give privacy to the office space.

Unsurprisingly, incorporating these elements also proved to be the most challenging aspect of the work. It was particularly important that when the technology wasn’t on, you would not be aware of it. It was also crucial for Elliot and his team to look ahead with the technology to make sure what they were installing was not something that will go out of fashion in the next few years.

Reflecting on this and the success of the project, Elliot added:

“The nature of what we try and create within our general style is something that will last and will still be current in five years’ time. For us to get this award recognition is a huge deal. We’re particularly fond of this project so to have people recognise it for its design excellence is great for us. To be included alongside projects from around the world is massive.”

Founded in 2012, Elliot James has grown quickly into a successful and vibrant interior design business. Working on projects in both Singapore and overseas, the company boasts a dedicated and talented team. To find out more, please visit elliotjames.com.
