BARNES have announced the launch of a new Commercial Property Department. Experts in the super-prime real estate market, BARNES International manages the investment, enhancement and realisation of real estate and a selection of other asset classes on behalf of some of the world’s most affluent individuals.

This strategic business development comes at a time when BARNES continues to expand internationally and particularly within the UK market.

London has one of the most active commercial real estate markets, seemingly unaffected by Brexit, with around £5.6 billion invested in London in the first half of 2018. A large portion of capital invested into the UK comes from foreign investment with real estate being targeted as an asset class (source: Property Wire).

Leading the department is Benedict Hall who has over 25 years’ experience in commercial real estate investment advisory and asset management. Hall has previously managed a portfolio valued in excess of £200 million, of assets in the UK and in Europe, reporting to the investors on initial acquisition, performance, handling disposals and building key relationships with tenants and lending banks.

Hall started his career with Savills Property Consultants based in the UK and Asia, advising global institutions and Government clients and is a member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors. Hall’s previous roles have included Manager for a Shari’ah compliant European Property Fund valued in excess of 1.4 billion on their asset and exit strategies and Global Head of Management overseeing the portfolio, asset and client reporting activities for a global portfolio of $6.5 billion. Hall has also worked at Hammerson Property, a UK FTSE 100 listed company and with a European property portfolio of circa $8 billion, directly responsible for a commercial and retail portfolio in excess of $1billion.

Benedict Hall, Head of BARNES Commercial Property Department says of the launch: “I am delighted to join the BARNES team and work with them to create a commercial real estate investment platform and advisory service that will expand BARNES’ global presence and reputation. Creating bespoke strategies for the existing BARNES clients will aid the company in its growth and expansion within the global commercial property markets.”

Alex Newall, Director of the Private Office at BARNES International says: “London remains an extremely popular destination for international commercial interests and has a booming commercial real estate market. Benedict’s expertise and cross sector knowledge make him the ideal candidate to run the BARNES Commercial Property Department and build partnerships within the commercial sectors.”
