CODE Publish Their Much Anticipated 30 Under 30 List

Celebrating the individuals impacting the food and hospitality industry

 CODE has published their 30 Under 30 List recognising the young creatives and entrepreneurs that are at the forefront of the ever-changing landscape of the food and hospitality industry. Included in the 30 Under 30 list are the 10 names to watch for the 2019, forecasting the impact these individuals are set to have on the industry. 

 Founded in 2012 by Adam Hyman, CODE has championed the industry through their media platforms, with the 30 Under 30 List sitting at the forefront, providing a valuable insight into the UK hospitality industry, which is now estimated to be worth over £100bn. Each individual on the list has had a significant influence on the industry in a variety of shapes and forms over the past year.

 Leading the increasing demand for British produce in CODE’s 30 Under 30 list is Calixta Killanda, Farmer and Founder of Flourish Produce. Calixta farms her land using a 100-year-old cultivator carted by horses- her progressive and sustainable agriculture is becoming vital in the wake of uncertain times for the UK. Calixta started off two years ago, visiting chefs in their kitchens with a box of her produce for them to try, she now supplies some of the UKs top restaurants with her produce in high demand. Calixta’s success exemplifies the industries demand for British provenance of ingredients in the midst of Brexit’s shadow on European trade. 

 Hugo Campbelland Digby Volrath feature in the 30 Under 30 list with Feast It, their fast-growing booking platform, which gives opportunities for event planners and individuals to source the UK’s top food vendors. Hugo and Digby have enabled small food vendors to work with big groups and individuals alike, with a focus on community engagement through supporting local chefs and restaurateurs. 

 With the food and hospitality industry being predominantly male, the 30 Under 30 list shines the light on the women disrupting the existing gender imbalance. Rose Ashby leads the way as the Head Chef at Spring. Speaking at various events such as Countertalk, Rose regularly promotes women in hospitality. Erchen Chang, co-owner and chef-director at XU and BAO has built the unique brand alongside her husband his sister serving the best of Taiwanese cuisine across London, paving the way for woman in the industry from both the business and food aspects of hospitality. 

 Mapping out what is in store for the year ahead, with the 10 Ones to WatchCODE’s list gives an exclusive insight into the biggest trends and developments across the industry. Leading the way in the rapidly growing trend of creative soft drinks are the Dutch twins, Joyce and Raissa de Haas with their award-winning brand Double Dutch– carving out their own way by partnering with spirits brands to create unique flavour combinations, watch this space…
