Model Market Finalises Line-Up Ahead of Bank Holiday Launch
Written by Amy

The full food line-up has been confirmed for Street Feast’s late night Lewisham hangout Model Market, which is returning with SIX new traders for 2019.

The indoor and outdoor market is back with a special extended opening, delivering a Bank Holiday blow out from Friday 03 May to Sunday 05 May – and four more traders can now be revealed to complete the food offering.

Growlers will be bringing a taste of Lisbon to Lewisham, serving up bavette steak as a prego or on a bed of smoky piri piri fries, all blitzed with their signature Portuguese salsa.

Dim sum classics will be given a meat-free makeover by Phung Kay Vegan. Jade and Angie will put their spin on staples like the char siu bao, as well as a dish inspired by Jade’s mother’s Vietnamese cooking, cheung fun (steamed rice rolls with wood ear mushrooms, carrots, mint, coriander, and vegan fish sauce).

Rastawaala will be offering their signature Kolkata kati roll alongside a new addition to the menu, boras and bhajas (Bengali fritters of seasonal veg, served with award-winning homemade sauces).

Best buds Andy and Lachy, a.k.a. Tucka Burger, are on hand with stacked burgers like the Mark Tuckaberg (dry-aged beef, onion jam, smoked bacon, sriracha mayo, BBQ sauce).

The latest arrivals round off a line-up that features James Cochran making his street food debut with GOAT, serving jerk-spiced goat in coconut flatbreads.

Lewisham locals Wandercrust will bring the wood-fired Neapolitan pizza; Thai specialists KraPow will parade their PowPow chicken wings; and London’s original frozen custard company, Secret Nicky’s, will be dishing up dessert. Of the traders, only Raastawala and Wandercrust were at Model Market in 2018.

High Line, SE13’s rooftop sunset strip, is one of six bars supplementing the food options. Gin Salon guarantees masterful gin and tonics; Can Hatch is brimming with up-to-the-minute brews; Street Vin showcases international wine producers; Rotary delivers festival-sized cocktails; and Rum Shack’s got unforgettable daiquiris.

A DJ line-up curated by returning Model Market selector Ben Ashman will bring unrivalled vibes to Lewisham for a series of sun-soaked parties across the summer months.

After the opening weekend, Model Market will be open Friday and Saturday nights until September from 5pm to 1am, with entry free before 7pm and £3 after.
