The Positive Luxury Awards will celebrate global leaders in sustainability.

Award-winning sustainability platform Positive Luxury has announced that they will host their inaugural awards, to take place in London in February 2020.

The Positive Luxury Awards 2020 will be a global celebration of sustainability and innovation within the luxury industry. The awards recognise companies or individuals that are working towards affecting positive change in businesses and our world.

Founded in 2011 by environmental trailblazers Diana Verde Nieto and Karen Hanton MBE, Positive Luxury is a platform that inspires people to buy better and influences luxury brands to do better via their recognisable Butterfly Mark – a symbol of reassurance that a brand can be trusted. Members must provide transparency and demonstrate that they are putting sustainability at the core of everything they do, with brands’ sustainability commitments being assessed every two years across five criteria.

CEO and Co-founder of Positive Luxury, Diana Verde Nieto, said “We are thrilled to be launching The Positive Luxury Awards 2020, that celebrates organisations embracing sustainability as business strategy, beyond supply chain. For that very reason, The Positive Luxury Awards will honour leadership in sustainability, awarding people and companies with unparalleled innovation that will affect positive and sustainable change in our world. I’m particularly proud to be working with the next generations of designers through a global competition with selected design schools awarding the winner with the privilege of producing the Positive Luxury Award”.

Diana, who is an advisor to the Sustainable Development Goals Council and a member of the British Fashion Council, is a globally recognised figure and spokesperson in the sustainability field, and honoured by the World Economic Forum as a Young Global Leader. Through her career, she has successfully leveraged her entrepreneurial spirit to drive innovation in the way that brands communicate on their commitment to social good and environmental responsibility, with companies seeing the true benefit of investing and incorporating responsible business practices into their DNA.

Member of the judging panel, Paul Polman, Co-founder of Imagine and Chair of the International Chamber of Commerce, said “I’m delighted to be a part of the Positive Luxury Awards 2020 judging panel. I’ve always believed that we cannot choose between growth and sustainability, we must have both and these actions must come from leadership in business. Positive Luxury has managed to capture this thinking and recognise brands on the journey to great leadership in sustainability”.
